A Mini Mental Health Retreat
A guided workbook for Reflection, Insight, and Hope
You don't need a weekend away to get curious about what's going on inside you — though if that's the shape this season calls for, this workbook can hold that space too. Sometimes all you need is a couple of quiet hours, an honest question, and permission to slow down.
This 33-page guided workbook walks you through the same reflective process Tori Dabasinskas, licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, uses with her counseling clients — one challenge, one story, one belief at a time — so you can notice what's really going on beneath the surface, and start moving toward something better.
For anyone who's carrying more than they're saying out loud
Maybe it's a relationship that keeps circling the same argument. A decision you can't seem to make. A tightness in your chest you've stopped noticing because it's just always there now.
You don't have to have a crisis to deserve a good, honest look inward. You just have to be willing to pause.
This workbook is for the business owner running on fumes, the leader who's tired of holding it all together, the couple stuck in the same conversation, the person who knows something needs to shift but isn't sure what — or where to start.
It's not therapy. It's not a substitute for it. Think of it as a first, honest step — the kind you can take on your own, at your own kitchen table, before you're ready for anything more.
Why we call it a retreat
A retreat doesn't have to mean a place or a set weekend — it can simply mean a practice, shaped however fits your life right now.
Retreat alone, over a weekend set apart just for you. Work through it with a spouse or partner, over a few dates together. Bring it into a small group, or use it alongside a counselor. However you come to it, this is a tool you can return to — life brings new challenges at different seasons, and this retreat can meet you in each one.
What’s inside
Written by Tori Dabasinskas, MA, LMFT, S-PSB, LPCC, a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with more than 30 years of experience, this workbook unfolds in seven short sections, plus a closing appendix. Each one takes 5–20 minutes and builds gently on the last — teaching, a few reflection questions, a place to journal, and one small practice to carry into your week.
Most people move through it over 2–3 sittings across several days, not all in one go. Plan on roughly 2 to 2.5 hours, total, whenever you're ready for it.
Prepare Physically — Total Body Wellness
Name the Challenge — Awareness
Understand Your Inner World — Beliefs & Values
Engage Safe Connection — Attachment
Honor Your Story — History & Hurts
Choose the Future — Moving Forward with Hope
Care for Yourself — Compassionately Living a Renewed Story
Plus a closing appendix — Mission & Invitation and the FBI Tool for Renewal (Feelings, Beliefs, Identity) — that invites you to look at your story through the lens of faith. It's a meaningful, faith-forward close for those who want it or are curious, and it stands completely separate from the seven core sections, which don't require any particular faith background to be useful.
Why this, and why now
Lasting change rarely happens through information alone. It happens when you slow down long enough to actually notice — your thoughts, your patterns, the old beliefs still quietly running the show.
This workbook gives you that space. Not a lecture. Not another app. Just an honest, guided time with yourself — something you can return to again and again, at whatever season finds you next.
What people are saying
"I loved the accountability built into each section — inviting someone else into the process isn't something I would have thought to do on my own. It was a powerful reminder of how much my identity has been shaped by past experiences, and how healing from them is part of the journey. I feel more grounded in truth than in my feelings."
— Lisa, retired Marriage & Family Therapist, mother and grandmother
"I loved this. The interconnectedness of it all — within ourselves and with others — really came through. The idea that you could ask 'Why do I do this?' or 'Why do I think this way?' and actually find the answers within yourself felt tremendous. I came away with more clarity, and a clearer understanding of who I am."
— Rebecca, working empty nester

A first step, not the whole journey
This workbook is a companion to the work Tori and Tom do in person — not a replacement for it. If what surfaces here stirs up more than you expected, you don't have to sit with it alone.
Tori offers counseling retreats in a peaceful, nature-integrated setting along the creek — a soft place to land, away from the pace of daily life. Together, Tori and Tom offer personalized intensives for those needing deeper clarity and support
